Connection Issue

Reported by: phoxphyre Assigned to: timothy
Priority: highest Component: Colloquy (GUI)
Version: Latest 2.1 Severity: trivial
Keywords: no connection upnp ip port forwarding 6667 Cc:

Description

Up until last week I was able to use Colloquy between home and work. I recently installed a new wireless system into our building and now all of sudden when i try to use Colloquy at work I have no response. I cannot connect to any IRC it does not give me an error it just sits there with my current window grayed out. If I close my laptop take it home to my wireless network everything resumes. I have no idea what has happened at work, but need to have this resolved. Like I stated earlier, I am not aware of any other changes that I have made to the system, but any test or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phox

Hmmm, this doesn't sound like anything to do with Colloquy.

This is most likely a symptom of the configuration of your work router and highly likely to do with port forwarding if you are using Static IP's via NAT at work or UPnP with Static or DHCP.

Your previous router may have had already had UPnP enabled and that's why it appeared to work before because that will automatically handle the connection.

To resolve this either enable UPnP in the router or alternatively the Port you usually need to forward manually is Port 6667 for IRC (but can vary depending on the server).

Instructions for the configuration of most routers is available at http://portforward.com/
