Incorporate Adium-style transcripts for useability. Would be awesome!

Reported by: adegeus Assigned to: timothy

Version: Latest 2.1 Severity: normal
Keywords: transcripts, adium, transcript browser Cc: grahamperrin

Description

The current Colloquy transcript format is so slow and unwieldy, we use outside utilities (thanks Bogo!) to convert them to copy/pasteable text format. Adium has a fast, intuitive transcript browser built in, and I think its format would work perfectly in Colloquy as well. I also think the community would be thrilled to have transcripts they can work with finally!

I agree. The current transcript browser is so buggy and slow it's borderline unusable... I even started to look for alternative IRC clients just because the transcript browser sucks so much. :(

I switch this to defect, because the current transcript browser IS defect - it mixes together different transcripts, it's very slow and unreliable, search doesn't really work (because it will mix together different transcripts that are found in the same window )...

Workaround

I tend to:

  1. command-click the proxy icon (in window title bar) of the channel that I wish to search.
  2. from the menu, select Colloquy Transcripts
  3. in the resulting Finder window, use Spotlight.

That's not a panacea. YMMV :)
