Colloquy will not stay connected to a server

Description

I've been trying to use Colloquy and usually I am able to connect to servers with no problem, however when a command is initiated either from my side (/join #) or the server side (/ping) the server will disconnect. This problem is happening about 75% of the time when I am on my home private network and never when I am using commercial networks such as my university WiFi?. I have opened ports 6666-6669, 113, 7001, and 7029. The end result of this problem is that the server will start throttling my connection.

Does this happen with any IRC client you use or only Colloquy?
